Automation major of Hangzhou Dianzi University was founded in 1994, being as the key major in Zhejiang Province, a major for training outstanding engineers of the Ministry of Education, and a major with advantages and characteristics in Zhejiang Province. It passed the engineering education certification in 2018. This major aims to serve the local economy, highlights the characteristics of control + intelligence, pays attention to training students' theoretical and practical abilities in control + intelligence, and has built up a trinity talent training system of undergraduate, master and doctor. The major has a powerful teaching staff team with obvious subject advantages, boasting of the national teaching team of  talents training in automation engineering and high-level talents such as  science and technology experts with outstanding contributions at the national level, scholars of national talent award scheme, national talent fund and special-level experts in Zhejiang province. Its  Control science and engineering discipline is the first batch of “top priority” and first-grade discipline in Zhejiang Province, has obtained B+”in  Discipline evaluation.

     This major sets goal to cultivate high-quality engineering and technical personnel with patriotism, international vision and innovative spirit, sound humanities and social science literacy, lifelong learning awareness and team cooperation ability, being capable of engaging in scientific research, technology development and application, project management in the fields of automation and artificial intelligence.

     The Automation major expects graduates to achieve the following four sub-goals in about five years:

     Goal 1: Having the professional ability of high-quality engineering and technical personnel, being able to model, analyze and design complex control system engineering problems in terms of professional positions, and propose effective solutions;

     Goal 2: Possessing great humanities and social science literacy, and being able to systematically analyze and solve complex control system engineering problems from the perspectives of industry laws and regulations, society, health, safety, culture, environment and sustainable development.

     Goal 3: Having good team cooperation consciousness and communication ability, being able to communicate effectively with domestic and foreign peers, professional customers and the public in the fields of automation and artificial intelligence, and having strong project management ability and leadership ability;

     Goal 4: Possessing innovative consciousness, lifelong learning consciousness and autonomous learning ability, and being able to adapt to the rapid development of automation and artificial intelligence industry in the future.
